RE: Storing Fresh Ginger
Freeze the sucker! You can easily grate the root even frozen and get even a finer consistency than you would grating it fresh. Just wash off the dirt and leave on the peeling. The peeling will grate just fine. And you definitely won't be losing any nutrients that way.

If you insist on cutting it into fine pieces, just defrost in the microwave for ten seconds. It will be soft enough to cut with a sharp knife. Then simply refreeze.

RE: Recipes for Tart Grapes
Have you tried rolling them in Jello? I had never seen this until I was eating dinner at a church supper and my cousin's kids were eating them like candy. I don't know if they were rolled in regular Jello or not, but if your worried about calories, the sugar free kind should work. Shouldn't it?
The picture I downloaded from the Internet is almost exactly how they looked at the supper ... View related article.

RE: Safety Pin Socks Together Before Washing
I have been doing this for years. My Sister thought is weird, but then I read about a man who staples his socks together. I don't know how he keeps them from getting snagged, but his wife said she didn't care; he did his own laundry! ... View related article.

RE: Add Small Amount of Bleach to Dish Water
I know about the bleach being full of chlorine and allegedly being harmful to the environment, but this practice will also help keep spots from forming on glassware if you put a tablespoon in the rinse water.

I thought this was only practiced in Japan, but then my aunt who worked in the hospital said that this was done in the cafeteria. IN A HOSPITAL! Another Aunt said they did it in the diners where she worked also. IN A PUBLIC EATING PLACE!

So I guess the bleach hasn't killed anyone or anybody yet. ... View related article.

RE: Refinishing a Bird Cage
I honestly think what the bird ate off of the bars of your bird cage could be worse than the rust. I would ask the vet what type of paint would be good for your bird. I would ask if it is even necessary for the bird cage to be repainted. ... View related article.

RE: Use Red Hanky in Case of Blood
I think this is a great idea, but the simple fact that you are calm, cool and collected is what really counts. You know what to do.
This reminds me of the mother who successfully had running, tag and dodge ball removed from the Wisconsin PE curriculum because her child returned home with a bruise. She said it was caused by a head on collision with another child and wanted to avoid such injuries in the future. The use of a head on collision was rather an overstatement.
If the parent is calm the child will be also. Monkey see; monkey do. ... View related article.

RE: Explaining a Gap in My Resume
If you took care of your family member I think that is admirable. You may want to say that you are experienced at taking care of people's special needs. The experience you have would make you more aware of the detailed needs that the company might have than other prospective employees. A little spin would not hurt. Anyone who has a good family relationship usually has good work relations also. Have confidence.
