| RE: Removing Burn Marks from Stainless Steel Pot |
I have good luck using stainless steel scrubbers and Barkeeper's Friend. I think I bought my current two stainless scrubbers at Walmart. They last for years. don't rust and are very easy to rinse clean! I only have to replace mine periodically due to spouse or sons taking them outside to clean lawn tools, etc. and forgetting to bring them back. ... View related article. |

| RE: Sore Throat Remedies |
I squeeze the juice of one lemon and then add the same amount of both Whiskey, and honey and then swallow a spoonful every few hours. For years I had constant sore throats and mostly ate boxes of cough drops which never helped cure them. After I read about the lemon, whiskey and honey, I only had to use it twice and have never had another sore throat. I've always assumed that the honey, whiskey, and lemon juice might have killed a dormant germ that I had been carrying around in my tonsils for years. ... View related article. |

| RE: Dying Carpet |
Try Huggie Baby wipes to clean the spots! My son rented a house that had a white carpet with some black spots that looked like black car oil! I was able to get all the black spots out with Huggies baby wipes. I had just heard about huggiesi being good for spot cleaning carpets a few days before that -- think it was on The View that I heard about other uses for Huggies. Taking off makup and spot cleaning carpets were two of the uses that I remember! I now keep a soft package of Costco's baby wipes in the car for cleaning up hands, faces and/or spills from fast food, in the car. And if and when they dry out, I pour a liiitle hydrogen peroxide over the dried out towels as it also helps as a good sanitizer of hands for germs, etc. ... View related article. |

| RE: Fingernails Splitting |
White iodine repaired my nails almost immediately. I read about white iodine helping soft splitting, peeling nails in Heloise's Hints in the newspaper. At the time I could only find white, also known as colorless iodine, on Ebay. The white iodine seemed to fuse the peeling layers of my nails together almost immediately. I used it every day for a week and then once a week for the next two or three months. I now only use it once a month or so for maintenance, and have had no more problems with my nails. I quit using files and emery boards also. Trim my nails with clippers only. I recently was able to order white iodine from the pharmacy at Sam's Club in Woodbridge, VA. ... View related article. |

| RE: Garden: Pumpkins |
We have three beautiful perfect pumpkins that volunteered from one that we left in a flower bed for the squirrels and chipmunks to eat last year. Never noticed any chipmunks but the squirrels loved them! I didn't recognize the leaves when they first came up this year and assumed they might be squash. Was very happy when they turned out to be pumpkins instead as I have never had luck when I planted pumpkin seeds on purpose! The seedling always disappered within a few days! ... | RE: Chrysanthemum Cuttings |

I live in USA's Zone 7 and all we do is when we start pinching the growth in summer to keep them from blooming too early. We take the pieces we've pinched, strip off the bottom leaves, leaving four of five leaves on the top and then plant the piece in a starting bed that we keep on the south side of the house that is filled with about 2/3 sand and 1/3 peat moss, and cover them with a glass jar to root. When they have roots and start to show growth, we plant them where we want them to grow. ... View related article. |

| RE: Recharging Shake Flashlight |
Mine were dead and it took what seemed at least ten minutes to shake them back to life! My arms got a good workout :) I'm eager to try this instead. Although I have about 50 flashlights already so don't reallly need these two and am now thinking about keeping the two that I have in the car and wonder if the movement of the car over rough roads would recharge them? Everytime I see a new type flashlight on the market (usually at Costco or BJ's), I buy! I have windups, solar, etc. Think My obsession comes from being a night owl my whole life but when I was a teenager, we all had to be in bed by nine. I always took flashlights to bed and read books under the covers. The solar flashlights which are my latest purchase from Costco are terrific. Very bright light and nothing to do but keep them in the window to keep them fully charged! ... View related article. |

| RE: Cooking With Cast Iron Pans |
Thanks for the tips! I wouldn't recommend cleaning in a self-cleaning oven like I did. I had a twenty-five year old cast iron skillet that was a favorite. We bought it the week after we got married. The inside was perfect after all those years, but after the outside begins to get all crusty, I put in my self cleaning oven. Came out looking great but about two days later a big chunk of the side broke off. ... View related article. |
