Profile For thriftmeg - Her Majesty, Queen of Crafts

As you can see, I consider myself a Queen of sorts. I love to craft and have tried most every kind of craft, with varying results. I am a addicted yard/garage/recycle store patron and find many of my craft supplies that way. I also should buy stock in my local dollar stores for the same reason. Recycling is my friend when it comes to crafting.

I read voraciously, who else would use voraciously in a sentence of everyday conversation. I write short stories and poetry and dream of having them published someday.

I am married with no children and  love to walk for my health. Type 2 diabetes keeps me on the look out  for low surgar or sugar free recipes to try. I have converted many of my favorites to low fat, sugar and salt versions.

I love my small city and its carousels.

RE: Updating Master Bedroom with Built In Cabinet
I would keep it, for sweater storage, books, even a tv if you want one in the bedroom. If I opted to store clothes etc. on some of the shelves, it might be best to add doors to the shelf areas to keep dust and dirt off the clothes. ... View related article.

RE: Crafty Uses for Game Pieces
1. Glue assorted pieces to the edges of a wide wooden frame which u have painted to make a one of a kind frame for someone's favourite board game.
2. Put three pieces together eg chessmen etc. and make a unique ornament for the tree by adding festive touches.
3. Combine pieces, glue to each other and then on a cork coaster base and make fun trophies for family game nights. Spray paint gold for a "trophy" look. ... View related article.

RE: Couch Seems Too Big for Room
If it seems too big it probably is, at least for your taste. I like Kidbiz's idea. Leave dh the largest section for tv viewing and put the small piece or pieces elsewhere. Just how big are we talking here? ... View related article.

RE: Converting a T-shirt into Other Apparel
Make a tote/green grocery bag. 1. Lay it flat on a hard surface. Measure down 8" from the center of the neck. Mark a "U" shape and cut out. Sew across the bottom of the t. Cut off the sleeves (the openings make the handles)

RE: Deviled Eggs for Halloween
Try a slice of pimento stuffed olive in the center to look like a green and red iris, or maybe a pickle slice with a pimento center and thin strips of pimento running from the center out for blood-shot eyes. Use dill pieces inserted in the sides of the egg half with black olive slices(2) for black eyed spiders. Try dying the eggs when peeled and still whole with food coloring to turn the whites colored before making the deviled eggs. ... View related article.
