RE: Italian Olive Oil House Dressing
I don't have a recipe, but I found a dressing by Kraft that is very good and pretty cheap. It's Light House Italian. Kraft dressings are very reasonably priced. ... View related article.

RE: Determining Fee for Making Couch Cushion Covers
I recently made 4 very large cushions for a friend's chairs - these cushions were actually the seat & back that went in a wooden frame. She paid me $100 - that did not include the fabric she had already bought. I was only going to charge her $80 ($20 per cushion), but she was very generous! ... View related article.

RE: Removing Nicotine Stains from Vinyl Wallpaper
Try a solution of ammonia and water. About 1/2 cup ammonia to a gallon of warm water. I used to smoke myself, so I know that it might not take off all the stains, but it should get most of them. ... View related article.

RE: Reducing Dust Bunnies
I have the same problem. I've noticed that it's not as bad right now because the kitties are putting on their winter coats & not shedding as much. I wish I had a solution for you - other than brushing the animals frequently and running a dust mop or swiffer over the floors every couple of days, I don't think there's a good answer! We love our animals and we love our hardwood floors, so we learn to live with it. ... View related article.

RE: Paint Color Ideas for Kitchen Cabinets
I saw this idea on one of those DIY shows. Remove the hardware from your cabinets and cut a piece of thin plywood to cover the decorative grooves, leaving about 2 inches or so of the cabinet door showing. Then you can paint the cabinets and add new hardware (that's not in the middle of the door), to give them an updated look.

I actually like the dark color - maybe paint them a dark brown that's not quite as dark as they are now. I also like your green counters. Add a crisp white tile back splash. I found white "subway" type tiles at Lowe's for 22 cents each. Here's a picture of my back splash. ... View related article.

RE: Peeling Fingernails
If you polish your nails, stop! Mine were peeling terribly when I was using colored polish. I switched to clear polish. They still peeled, but it wasn't as noticeable. Then I stopped using polish altogether. They haven't peeled since. ... View related article.

RE: Removing Acrylic Paint from Carpet
Go to Home Depot and buy a small can of "Goof Off". Don't get "Goo Gone" - it doesn't work as well on paint.
It smells horrible (like gasoline or something), but it works great to remove dried paint. Put some on a small rag (use an old one) and rub the paint gently. Don't attempt to wash the rag. Seal it up in a small ziplock bag or something and throw it away. ... View related article.

You can buy a pouring spout that fits on a gallon can at Home Depot for under $2. ... View related article.

RE: Homemade Jewelry Cleaner
Mix the ammonia with an equal part of hydrogen peroxide. When you put the jewelry in the solution, you can see the dirt bubbling out. DO NOT use this for opals or pearls! ... View related article.
