Cut stem on angle so it can asborb more water. Use cool water, make sure all leafs are Not in-mersed or cut them off before putting into vase. Prevents going rancid. When my daughters had a small craft store, they found that selling instead at Street Fairs and by word of mouth was less of an exense for them. Especially if you can personalise right there. Customers tend not to purchase if they can't walk away with the item! Make sure you charge 2.5-3 x the material costs. (Wood, blades, primer, paints, Glue, ect.) Also try Craigs list. RE: Uses for Leftover Fabric Scraps
6" or 7 " squares pinned and sewn together (4 for each side) can become a nice project for your daughters to also learn how to make their own patch quilt pillow. Loose stuffing to be packed with their help will also help them appreciate crafting too. I taught my ganddaughters at 9 and 10 to first hand stitch, then gradually they learned how to make their own fleece pants on (slow speed for them) on the sewing machine. ... View related article.
