Involuntarily retired five years ago, and wish I had done it earlier.  I'm enjoying life so much more now without stress, and without a schedule.  The Missus is retired too, but we kinda keep out of each other's way most of the time.  I was a Electronics Technician for over 40 years, and have always enjoyed solving problems, plotting strategies for life, inventing gadgets (in my head or in reality), etc.  Now that I have been retired, I have had time to look into ways to live well by being frugal.  I converted over 30 incandescent bulbs to compact flourescent (about $100) and more than paid for them in the first year.  Our electric bill dropped dramatically.  I have had time now to review our property and auto insurance regularly and have cut those expenses by almost $1,000.00 per year.  These are just some of the things I have time for once I could start using my initiative for myself when I'm no longer doing it for an employer.  The same holds true for having time to tend to my family, gardens, home upkeep and do what I want to do, when I want to do it... OR NOT.
