Save Silica Packets to Beat the Humidity
I save my packets of silica that one gets in things like shoes, dog treats, etc. and keep them in a decorative container in the bathroom to lower humidity. I also keep some under the kitchen sink.
Rubbing Alcohol as Eyeglass Cleaner
I keep rubbing alcohol in a small 2 oz. spray bottle. I use it to clean my glasses. You could also use your own homemade glass cleaner, but I find it easier to just fill it with the rubbing alcohol.
Silicone Packets for Moisture Control
I save those small silicone bead packets that you get with some items. I put them in a decorative bowl in the bathroom. It helps to absorb some of the moisture so I don't develop mold in the bathroom.
Spray Vinegar after Showering
I keep a spray bottle of vinegar by the shower. When I am done showering, I use the squeegee and then I spritz the shower walls and inner curtains with the vinegar. It keeps mildew at bay and disinfects the shower.
Getting All the Toothpaste out of the Tube
When I can no longer get any more toothpaste out of the tube, I cut the tube into 2-3 inch sections and store them in a baggie. When I need toothpaste, I wet the brush and swipe some toothpaste from the cut sections.
Homemade Cleaning Wipes
Rather than making a big mess trying to cut a roll of paper towels in half as most instructions suggest, I took a tall container such as the "Club Mix" container from Costco. A regular-size roll of paper towels fits in this perfectly.
Ice Cream Bucket for Used Kitty Litter
I use an ice cream bucket to put the litter clumps in. The top fits tightly so I don't have to worry about odor, and they are disposable.
Sanitize Your Toothbrush With Listerine
I keep a small spray bottle of Listerine in the bathroom. After I have finished rinsing my toothbrush, I give it a few sprays with the Listerine to kill any germs remaining on the toothbrush.
Grandma's Green Tomatoes
This is what my grandmother made to use up green tomatoes at the end of the season.
Mash and Freeze Sale Potatoes
I buy potatoes when they are on sale. Then I boil them, mash them, and seal them in serving size containers and put them in the freezer. It's so nice to be able to just take out as much as I need and microwave it.
