Try adding in a cup or two of vinegar and a little ammonia to the hot water solution you use in the carpet cleaner.

I purchased a product called Awesome from the dollar store after reading numerous reviews about how wonderful it worked. I diluted it in a spray bottle to treat the stains before diluting it in the carpet cleaning machine & it worked great. On the bottle it clearly says it can be used in carpet cleaning machines.
I work for Kirby. If you use lavender fabuloso with white vinegar diluted in water with a teaspoon of dawn dish soap(for the foam) you get the same results for less money.
