Potato chips and saltines freeze fine. Just protect the chips in a roomy plastic box, or place them on top of stuff in the freezer. - Nett of NH

Bananas freeze well. You can freeze them right in the peel or take off the peel and put them in a plastic bag. You can then use them for any baking using ripe bananas. - Susan

I freeze potato chips when I buy them several bags at a time. They will keep for ages and do not get soggy.

I also freeze flour. I buy the large bags of flour and to be sure to keep it bug free, I freeze it.

Things that I freeze:
Leftover cooked bacon, cooked ground beef, leftover croutons, nuts; lemon juice and lemondade(fill ice cube trays, pop out when frozen, put in freezer bag), shredded cheese, ground coffee, cereal; cups of yogurt(great treat, works best if placed in freezer container, freeze for a while, then stir); chocolate chips, leftover tomato sauce (put in freezer bag and freeze flat); on-sale or cheap fast food cheesburgers/hamburgers in wrapper and inside freezer bag.

I don't know if it's odd or not but you can freeze some fresh herbs such as cilantro. You wash the cilantro well and pull off the leaves and chop then using an ice tray place chopped cilantro in ice tray and cover with water and freeze.

When frozen pop out of ice trays and store in a plastic freezer bag. Use to season beans, mexican food or what ever. they keep very well for a long time and you don't have to waste the fresh herbs. - Kelley

I freeze green peppers, either whole with the seeds removed (for stuffed peppers later), or chopped and put in a plastic bag.

I also freeze cooked bacon and bacon grease. I'll fry up a pound of bacon, drain the grease in a can and refrigerate the can until the grease is solid. I then scoop out the grease into balls, flash freeze on a cookie sheet, and place in a ziploc bag.

Cooked bacon can be frozen too. This is great for those recipes like wilted lettuce or vegetable dishes that call for crumbled bacon topping. The hard part is already done. Cleanup is the same, whether you cook a little bacon or the whole package. ( I know you can cook it in the microwave but I find that my pound of uncooked bacon goes bad refrigerated before I cook up the whole pound if I just do a little at a time.) - John

I grow old fashioned mint or spearmint that I freeze with water in ice cube trays. What a nice treat in the winter to enjoy fresh mint in your tea!

And other herbs that I grow and freeze are parsley, chives and basil. To freeze the parsley and chives, simply pick when it is fresh, snip into pieces and put in a freezer baggie. To freeze the basil, pick the leaves only and put in a freezer baggie with olive oil. Press the air out and zip it closed. Press the oil all around so that all of the basil is covered. Lay it flat in the freezer and you have a ready treat to add to your tomato based dishes, chicken, pasta etc.. Just break off a chunk and enjoy.

You can also freeze cookies - especially Girl Scout Cookies, and drop cookie dough to bake at a later date.

This isn't food, but you can freeze your SOS/Brillo pad in between uses so that it does not rust. You can get many times of use out of it this way.

Peel, wash, and cut into slices sweet potatoes. Drop slices in orange juice to keep them from turning brown. When you have enough, pull them out of the juice and put in freezer bags and freeze until you are ready to cook them.

I tried it, and they were still good after one year frozen.

I make fruit smoothies by the batch and freeze them in single-serve plastic tumblers with snap-on lids.

These can be carted to work in the morning and are perfect drinking temperature by lunchtime (mix with a spoon).

They can also by microwaved and served immediately.

Peanut butter will not go old and does not change texture when stored in the freezer. I store all nuts in the freezer (walnuts, almonds, cashues, peanuts). Cream cheese freezes well. Extra milk or eggnog I freeze for use later in pancakes or waffles. Feta cheese also freezes well and will not go old in the freezer. I also store yeast for baking in the freezer. Of course, extra beef and pork bones and leftovers that are for our 2 dogs for "treats" are stored in a ziploc bag in the door of the fridge freezer for quick usage.

YOU CAN FREEZE RIPE AVOCADOS BY GETTING THE MEAT OUT, AND PUTTING IT INTO A TUPPERWARE CONTAINER. THEN SQUEEZE LEMON OR LIME OVER IT AND FREEZE. THEN USE IT FOR YOUR NEXT PARTY ON GUACAMOLE.

Using large plastic apple juice containers, I freeze cool-aid or lemonaide. Fill the container about 3/4 full, to allow for expansion. Then wnen I go fishing or on a trip, as it thaws I've got a cold drink. I sell arts & crafts festivals. This usually lasts about 6 hours before it's all thawed out.

Why are you freezing Girl Scout Cookies? I've got cases from last cookie season (about 11months ago) that have been stored at room temperature. I haven't run across a single foul/stale cookie yet. I've also found a box of the OLD lemon cookies (I work at a GS Summer Camp, don't judge me) and they weren't stale either.

Yogurt can be frozen in the original container. Do not freeze the large containers unless you use an ice-cream maker. To use, just let sit at room temp for a few minutes, until you can spoon easily. I like it almost hard. And shave the frozen yogurt with a spoon. Really nice on a hot day.

I slice bananas lay them on a plastic cutting board and freeze them. After they are frozen I put them in plastic bags. They make great frozen snacks. I wash and chop celery and freeze it. It then is ready to use. You can do this with onions and green peppers too. You can buy large quantities of mushrooms and freeze them. They are soft when thawed but great for cooking. Do not wash them first or they will freeze together. If you do wash them, make sure they are dry when you freeze them. Nothing should be kept in a home freezer for a year. Freezing slows the growth of bacteria but does not kill it.

I freeze leftover Halloween candy. Been doing this for years. Never had any complaints and better than eating the leftovers. I pull it out for parties and sometimes manage to have some leftover for the following year's Halloween.

I wash and bake whole cookie sheet full of sweet potatoes in oven. Take out and cool. Then I put them in plastic bags four or five to a bag, zip lock bag and freeze for later. You can take out one at a time and heat in microwave.
When ready to eat Saves electric, by baking a large bag.
