My Frugal Life - A Week Of Frugal Summer Fun

Bronze Post Medal for All Time! 203 Posts

Summer Time:

Monday: The public library has a program to encourage reading. They have story time and a craft to go along with it. We would then pick out the books for the week.

Tuesday: Free swimming lessons at the city park program from 11:30-12:00, then we'd play in the park (swings, slide, sandbox etc.) Have lunch at the picnic table, then we'd go to the wooded section of the park and go berry picking.

Wednesday: Our local cinema (3 miles up the road). Once a week they would have a book report kid's day, where you bring in a book report and you can see the kids movie of the week for free. Seeing that the grocery store was just another 1/4 mile up the road, we'd hit it first, and get two 25 cent soda machine sodas, 2 small bags of chips for 50 cents, and 1 large sub for about $2.00. So for about $3.00, we'd have lunch outside the store at picnic table. We'd then back track to the cinema and see the movie.

Thursday: Again, swimming, and on this day the bookmobile would come to the park. We'd get to return books from the library and choose new ones. Now we have a couple of books to read before we leave.

Friday: Today would be the day that we'd either bake from our findings on Tuesday or make a board game or play a game we've already made. We might plant a flower or anything else.

We always either walked or rode the city bus. The week never cost more than $7.50.
