Buying Sani-Flush?

I haven't been able to locate an awesome product for cleaning the toilet that I used to use. Does anyone know where I can locate Sani-flush? I think it may have been taken off the market.

I sure wish I had bought extra years ago. Great Product....That was all my Mom used and it was a job one of us didn't get upset about. Because it worked so well.

I was trying to find any crystal bowl cleaner like my Mom used too, but no luck. The liquid kinds just don't do the same job. I'm 74 & just don't like the way all these new kinds work.

This is true. The newer toilet bowl cleaners don't get the stain, out of bottom, of my toilet bowl, the way Sani Flush did. Never had any stains when using Sani Flush. It had a nice smell, too.

It's now called Handi Flush. Sold by a janitorial serv. Google it. The shipping is high for one ,so order the four container (3 lbs each) and shipping even cheaper than ordering one canister of Handi Flush.
I assume they got rid of whatever was environmentally bad ? I hope so . The ad on the site says Handi Flush in aka Sani Flush. I'm ordering some
Sani Flush was best toilet clean we out there. The Four pack is about $ 65.00 plus shipping. These are 3 lb canisters ,so that seems bigger to me than the SaniFlush I use to buy decades ago.

Was the smell that I remember. Awful.
I think it was from the '60's
Now my husband uses a brand of denture cleaner with the same smell.
Just awful!

I bought some a few months ago at Canadian Tire. It's a store sort of like Walmart, but with mostly car, sports, and outdoor stuff.

Crystal toilet bowl cleaners have evidently been discontinued for environmental or safety reasons (Sani-Flush and Vanish Crystals were the main brands.) The active ingredient was sodium bisulfate, which releases an acid when dissolved in water. This was very effective for removing calcium deposits caused by hard water. The liquid cleaners are basic, not acid. I suspect the acid is bad for septic systems, but probably would not harm a city sewer treatment system. Sodium bisulfate crystals can be purchased at a Pool Supply store, sold as Dry Acid, Ph Lower, Ph Down, etc. Intended use is adjusting pool and spa Ph level. Read and follow all precautions.

Do not get in eyes!

They discontinued it in 2013.

Sani-Flush was a brand of crystal toilet bowl cleaner formerly produced by Reckitt Benckiser. Its main ingredient was sodium bisulfate; it also contained sodium carbonate as well as sodium lauryl sulfate, talc, sodium chloride, fragrance and dye.

When sodium bisulfate is mixed with water, a highly-corrosive acidic solution is produced, which dissolves accumulated minerals such as iron, magnesium and calcium from the bowl.[1]

Due to environmental concerns, the product has been discontinued; by 2013 its last original US trademark was cancelled or allowed to expire.[2]

Where can I buy Sani-Flush? My mom is looking for it and can't find it anywhere.

Well, I went to google and typed in "who makes sani clean" and got several sites to click on. One said sani clean is no longer available because of environmental concerns. But another said you could buy it online at Office Depot in Mishawaka In. A 54 oz of Sani Flush is $3.79. So I would search out google and see what you can find. (09/29/2009)

Yes, I noticed that myself. You can no longer find it in the stores. I live in Brookville, PA. If you ask about it, most people don't seem to notice it any longer on the shelf. But yes, the Home Depot sells it online. (10/06/2009)

Buying Sani-Flush

I called the company and they said it is discontinued and that there is nowhere that I could buy it. I just finished my last jug and I'm very disappointed. It is the only thing that really "cleaned" my toilet. I think the other stuff on the market just coats over the stains etc. (10/30/2009)

My cousin reminded me, last week, that a woman we knew back in the 1980s was cleaning her toilet with Saniflush granules AND bleach. It caused a toxic chemical reaction and she died from inhaling the fumes!!! So Saniflush granules may have been taken of US market for the dangerous reaction is causes when mixed with other chemicals. The "Hunker" website says that bleach is made of sodium hypochlorite. Also states the most common cehimcal in toilet cleansers is hydrochloric acid.

Whe mixed, the reaction creates toxic chloramine gases. Hunker website even caution against using same cleaning clothes saturated with first one of these chemicals and then the other because the reaction will occur even in the absense of much water. So if you do find another source for these Saniflush type granules, DONT use bleach at the same time OR on same cloth without washing out the cloth well first!
