I bought my Frigidaire dishwasher model #: FDB1250REC2 3 1/2 years ago. The door that releases the hot air during the drying cycle would not function. The interior of the unit filled with mold.

Our repair guy came out and was not able to fix the problem. Frigidaire did replace the unit at the behest of my repair company. That was two years ago.

The new unit now makes a tremendous humming noise during the rinse cycle, the upper spray arm does not get enough water pressure to operate and water is left standing in the bottom of the dishwasher.

If it's just the pump, I will go through the pain and hassle of fixing it. But, I will never buy another Frigidaire appliance again. This isn't a $20 hair dryer. Sorry, bad example, my hair dryer has been working for 7 years now.

When you pay this much money for an appliance, you expect it to last more than a year or two. I would be embarrassed and out of a job if I performed like Frigidaire appliances. Heck, if I performed as poorly as a Frigidaire, I probably wouldn't have any kids!

This is the third time my Frigidaire dw has failed in 4 years and we only run it perhaps every 5 days. Twice it was the control board within 1 year of each other. Now the dw wont drain and I cleaned out all the hoses and checked the pump and the solenoid and whatever else.

I will never buy Frigidaire again. Had 2 other makes prior to this and they each lasted 14 years and never had a service call. The last one nothing was wrong with it, just a remodel in my kitchen for stainless appliances.

We just bought a condo with this dishwasher. It's new. To think I sold my beautiful home with its Bosch dishwasher for this. Bah.

I have had a brand new, Frigidare Professional for about 6 months. I have noticed very irregular cleaning results. Sometimes good cleaning, other times, not. I haven't had a dishwasher so figured it was how I was loading it. I probably should have called my local dealer where I bought the thing. We've been using the gel pellets and have tried two different brands, Cascade and Clorox. Both have similar results, sometimes we find the pellet at the bottom of the dishwasher, barely altered. There are always some dishes that have a film on them.

I thought it was the product but after reviewing soap products (the ones we've used get great reviews) and seeing what people here are saying about the dishwasher, I think perhaps I just got a bad dishwasher. I wish we had researched brands and products before buying the machine.

At this moment, I've run the same load three times and used new pellets each time and the load is still not clean. I hate this machine!

Attached picture is the top shelf after I've run the thing three times.

The wife and I bought our FDBB1940DS0 Frigidaire dishwasher about 6 years ago. We built a new house and didn't want the cheap appliances the builder provided, so we used our old ones (a well used Jenn-Air stove and Whirlpool fridge) and they discounted the house (a little). I installed the newly purchased appliance myself as let's face it, it's not that difficult. A few months of use is all we got out of the unit before it failed and had the potential of burning our house down. I was surprised to find all the problems others have had with no recall or class action law suit against Frigidaire searchable on the net.

Our story goes like this, we had started a load of dishes and ran to the store (I know, not smart with any appliance). When we returned, the house smelled like burning plastic, acrid is the only description I can give it. I finally located the source when I saw my brand new counter (Formica, I invest my money, I don't flaunt it) bubbled up. It had actually delaminated from the wood due to the intense heat emanating from the appliance installed below it. It was so hot it burned my hand when I touched it! Quickly I ran to the garage and threw the breaker and opened the washer to find melted plastic all over the interior. Pools of plastic literally were lying in the screen (also melted) in the bottom of the unit. The wheels in the rails were melted and when I pulled out the top rack it fell onto the door. The bottom spray bar was almost completely melted as well.

At the time I was working a lot and my wife had just returned to work after the birth of our second son so we did not have the time to spend on the phone trying to get service that we would likely have to pay labor on. I simply ordered a few of the parts to get the unit working on a basic level and put it back together knowing I had made a mistake purchasing the unit. I did unplug the drying element and cap the wires so it would not attempt to burn my house down again. It has been running, crippled, in this fashion ever since. Once in a while the dispenser door does not open, and it occasionally leaks and on very rare occasion it actually gets the dishes clean. We always run it while we are at home and never while we sleep. I always run the water at the faucet in the sink until hot water comes out so that I know the washer fills with hot water. If I don't the dishes come out as dirty as they went in.

I wish now that I had pursued this matter further at the time as it sounds as though Frigidaire has some potentially dangerous products out there that may still be in use, like ours! This seems very irresponsible for this manufacture and I will never purchase nor recommend anything from them or their subsidiaries again. I urge you to do the same. If you are not sure of the other brands marketed by Electrolux then take a look here en.wikipedia.org/.../Electrolux#Brands.

Thanks for posting the original, at least I feel better knowing this thread can be searched if anyone ever gets hurt and needs to file a claim. Oh, and I'll gladly testify.

Below is a picture of the appliance as well as one of the melted top rack rollers.

Hi: Just purchased ours in Dec 09' s our x-mas present and after 2nd day installed the water valve stuck open and flooded our newly remodeled basement. After arguing with dumb rep from same company I called Lowes and they promptly took it back and sent a new one over. Kudos to them! But now last night I went down to do laundry and found water dripping again out of light fixture from dishwasher on main floor. Ceiling soaked and had to shut off water to dishwasher until I can get someone over here. How do you have two defective appliances in a row? WOW are u kidding me? I think they have run of bad water valves or something. Maybe they should get together with the car manufacturer that can't use quality parts either. Gees

I had the same horrible experience with Frigidaire. Bought a brand new dishwasher in April of 2010 that broke after 2 uses and flooded my kitchen 3 times. They have the worst customer service. Customers have no rights. Regrettaly, I did not buy my dishwasher from Lowes and my dealer will not exchange the defective dishwasher, he is telling me and Frigidaire it can be repaired. Don't by dishwashers from Frigidaire

I just bought my Frigidaire Gallery dishwasher 6 weeks ago and have had problems ever since! The dishwasher acts possessed, runs on it's own throughout the day, shuts off in the middle of a cycle, does whatever cycle it wants.Claims there is a power failure when there clearly isn't! I do not recommend buying this brand.

Frigidaire dishwasher: I purchased the base model for 249. Yeah, I know you can expect little at the bottom end of the market but I thought the failure would be less life in the appliance than the 10 year old Whirlpool it was replacing. Wrong! It is 6 months old and just had catastrophic failure. On the interior of the tub, the heating element burned/melted a hole in the right rear corner of the inside dishwasher. Fortunately, we didn't have a house fire. But we did have lots of water damage to the laminate flooring beneath the dishwasher and the contents of the basement below. I never would have believed it could melt a hole all the way through to the outside but it sure did! Flimsy construction; definitely avoid this machine!

I have a just short of 1 year old Professional series dishwasher by frigidaire.. The control panel went out. It has been 3 weeks and my repair company still is waiting for the part from the manufacturer, have had many problems with my professional side by side refrigerator as well, compressor needed to be replaced as well as the control panel. Now I am worried about my range. Really unhappy with the quality of these appliances. I will never buy another frigidaire again, on a side note, the Ammana fridge that this replaced is still running after many years in my garage.

Bought a Frigidaire dishwasher (FDB4050LHS), and it made it almost 4 years when I decided to push the "sanitize" button, and the element overheated and melted holes around the element plug at the tub base that was wider than the element grommets. Good thing we bought the extended warrant because they realized they'd have to replace the tub, and they gave us a gift card for the original purchase prices (and tax) of the appliance.
-
I purchased some high temp, food grade silicon sealant to fill the holes, then realized I should really see if there's an easy fix on the electronics. I'll probably end up getting a new unit. If the element can heat up like that, it could maybe keep going and cause a fire?
-
The $85 we spent on the extended warranty most certainly paid for itself. Dishwashers don't seem to last much more than 5 years, at the most.

New unit smells moldy. Service department just told me it is my responsibility to clean the unit with a commercial cleaner weekly to prevent mold. Said the design leaves water in the bottom beneath the drain to prime the pump. Clearly standing water in a closed unit is ridiculous! I have owned dishwashers for over 30 years and this is a first. I will never buy a Frigidaire product again. Clearly a design issue, and they lack the integrity to remedy the problem.

Our Frigidaire Professional Series dishwasher is 9 years old. The heating element has burned a hole in the bottom of the plastic tub causing it to leak. The tub, according to the repair man, is not replaceable. Seems like Frigidaire should have supported the heating element on all sides so that it couldn't touch the bottom of the dishwasher. Luckily we noticed the leak before we had water damage or a fire from the melting plastic. Guess I'll be shopping for a new dishwasher...probably not a Frigidaire.

Never will I buy a Frigidaire dw again. Two control panels within 1 year of each other and now the water does not drain out. My husband went through all of the steps, drained the tub, cleaned out the hoses, checked the pump, nothing. Dont tell me its the control board again. Only run it approx. every 5 days so it would have broken down sooner if I ran it every day?
