Uses for Avocado Skins?

Are their any uses for avocado skin? Is it harmful at all? I've thought about blending the skin and using it as some sort of facial or skin scrub, but I'm skeptical on whether it's beneficial or not. Thanks!

It would make a great facial (and body) scrub. However, I recommend using only organic, otherwise the pestisides could react with your skin. I always use organic when it comes to scrubs, just in case. Good luck.

Turn the peel inside out, where the "meat" was and rub on skin, but blending up the peel, would be really hard on a machine and you could have all sorts of chemicals on your body. Organic, doesn't mean NO chemicals, they could be using "from the earth" chemicals ie.

chrysanthemum (which is toxic to cats and sometimes dogs), don't think that "organic" means no chemicals, it just may mean no MAN made chemicals. Either way, keep the outer peel for the compost.

I've scrubbed the inside of peels with a brush, soap and water, cut them in various shapes and let them dry to see what they can be used for. They dry and curl at the edges, becoming nearly weightless and brittle, with a textured beige suede-look on one side and semi-gloss black on the other.

Lengthwise vertical wedges will dry into long flower petal shapes similar to a chrysanthemum, so would be useful for delicate textured or 3-D artwork when glued to a surface that won't be handled.

Cutting horizontally after the initial vertical cut will make strips that can dried into slightly curled rectangles or wide rounded triangles. Much like the lightless of "Que Pasa" brand organic corn chips.

I even joined some rectangles and strips with a paperclip until dry, which does hold interesting shapes. I thought they might be used as shipping popcorn, but feel they are much too fragile and would crush into rough and sharp little flakes. Perhaps they could be used as kindling or something else?
