How do I get pine tar out of patio cushions?

I read yesterday on this site to use olive oil, it doesn't take much just a small amount.
Hand sanitizer works great on any fabric or even your hands to take to pine tar off. I used a little just rub it on the tar and off it comes. Saved a brand new pair of shorts and the cushions on my lawn chairs.
