Halloween Party Favors?

I'm having my son's 7th birthday party a couple weeks early to make it a Halloween costume party. It was his idea and he's so excited! My question is what are some party favors I can use? I plan on making up treat bags for all the kids but I'd like to put nice treats inside instead of cheap trinkets. Does anyone have ideas without spending a bundle? I'm expecting about 16 kids under the age of 8 to be there.

How about mechanical pencils, lip gloss or chapstick, jigsaw puzzles, children's dictionary, bubb;le bath, micro popcorn(unpopped, ) flash cards or playing cards, gel pens, sports cards, winter hats or gloves, fun socks, comic or paperback books, stickers. Go to a dollar store and let your imagination go wild. Let your son help find what he would like.

I saw a post here a while ago and used it with great approval from adults and kids alike. It basically involved using clear plastic (food-safe) gloves. Place red jelly-beans or raspberries at each fingertip to resemble fingernails then fill the rest of the hand up with popcorn and fasten off at the wrist.

We called them 'horrible hands' and not only did they make great table decorations but they were a massive hit as treat bags also. Thanks to whoever originally posted it, great idea!

How about picking up those cute little miniature pumpkins - 1 for each child, and allowing them to paint faces on them?

Go to a Store Called: Dollar Tree it is sorta like a Dollar General but MUCH cheaper. That is where I always got our things at for birthday parties. My Daughters also "shopped" there when they were younger for Christmas or birthday gifts for family and friends and thought they were getting a lot for the few dollars they had to spend.

They could get 10 actually nice gifts for only $10,they are still "frugal" shoppers which makes Mom really proud. Good Luck with shopping and the party as well
