REVERSE THE FLOW OF AIR
I would set the fan so the warm air that rises to the ceiling is blown downward. In the summer, set the fan so that it pulls the cool air from the floor up to the ceiling. The fan doesn't have to move very quickly to accomplish the effect you want.
Proper setting blows air upward at the slowest speed. This distributes the warm air downward without cooling it.
I set our fan blades to turn counter-clock wise for the cold months; then reverse (clock-wise) for the warmer months.
Set it to blow up. It will push the warm air up and than down the sides of the wall.
