Honey Mint Dog Biscuits

These home-made dog biscuits are easy to make and dogs love them. They are also breath fresheners.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup corn meal
  • 1/4 cup wheat germ
  • 2 tsp mint extract
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1/4 cup water

Directions

  1. Mix all ingredients.

  3. Roll dough out 1/4-inch thick. Cut biscuits with cutter and place on lightly greased cookie sheet.
  4. ,li> Bake at 350 degrees F for about 15 minutes.

  5. Remove and cool for softer biscuits or turn oven off and leave biscuits in overnight for harder ones.

Tip: moisten fingers with water if dough is too sticky.

Is there something instead of mint extract you could use in these? I'm not even sure where to BUY mint extract.

It's pretty commonly available at grocery stores. It should be right next to the vanilla extract.

I'm sure you could leave it out and the dogs wouldn't mind a bit.

You can use grease drippings, gravy, or applesauce, it won't have the same breath freshers in it but dog will still love em. The honey will make them a nice golden brown color and if you don't have honey use brown sugar.

I also make these and use 2/3 cup peanut butter but sometimes I have to add more water.

Thanks for sharing the recipe! I have 4 dogs and I know they will love these!

To SMCARNEY: Mint extract can be found at the grocery store in the spice isle or baking isle, probably by the vanilla extract. You would be surprised how many extracts they have! Coconut, peppermint, lemon, hazelnut, banana, cherry... One of my dogs loves bananas. I could use the banana extract instead of the mint. Get creative! Your dogs will thank you =)
