Use Vaseline on Birdfeeder to Keep Ants Away

To keep the ants out of the hummingbird feeders, apply Vaseline or stiff hair jell to the hanger or wire of the feeder. The ants can go as far as the jell then they can't go further to get in the feeder.

I have been using vaseline on my birdfeeder for years and it works! I just put a glob on the shepards hook all the way around the metal several inches away from the feeder. Tada no ants.

Tried this also but it seems that it gets dry or something because within 1 day they were walking over the Vaseline. Going to buy a moat device and see if that works.

No no no no. Never use anything sticky on or near the feeders. The birds get it on their wings and it can kill them.

Please dont use lubricant like Vasaline on bird feeders. Research and look at the birds injured from this. It can eventually kill the birds. Get a baffle or slinky.
