Dakota Star (Timber Wolf/Husky)

Dakota Star is now 18 months old. She is a Timber Wolf/Husky. We are wolf/wolf dog rescue and she was born in our compound.

She can do anything she wants. She is house broken, rides well, digs holes deep enough to bury a car and lays in a kiddie pool to cool off.

I don't see Dakota as a pet, she is the one that has me well trained.

What a beautiful dog!
Dumb question here...where do you get the dog's from that you rescue? Other states, or there if Florida? Guess I'm just a hillbilly (LOL), I always thought wolve's were only out west! Around here where I live, we have an occasional coyote, not too often though.

Are they tempermental?
My brother, many years ago, had a dog that was part timber wolf and part german shepher and had to obtain a permit to keep her as she was part wolf.

I always wondered how safe it is to be around these types of pets when they become much older. This is not a criticism - but how do you make them less, 'wild'?

I knew someone years ago who'd taken in a half coyote/dog (or maybe it was a full coyote) as a lost puppy, and was told to stay far, far, away from it at all times.

She's a very beautiful animal. Could you tell us more about rescuing wolves and wolf hybrids and whether they can really be domesticated? Some of us wonder if that's possible.

Last week a deputy shot a border collie (!) here who bit his hand slightly - it's dreadful when animals are killed unnecessarily. I'd like to understand wolf hybrids better.
