Fruits and Vegetables as Dog Treats

For inexpensive and definitely more healthy dog treats, try feeding your dog broccoli and carrot slices. My dog absolutely loves them! He thinks that he is a real good dog when he gets these. He also enjoys bananas, apple slices, and peach slices. They're a lot better than store bought treats.

I agree! There are so many treats sold in the markets that really are no good for pets! Anything with color, or seasoned (like the pepperoni snacks) and anything pencil shape are very bad for pets! Also, grapes and raisins can be very dangerous to dogs...

My 9 year old Doxie, like all of them, but she also like grapefuit, and I recently found she like brussel sprouts, steamed. I cannot peel a banana without her begging for some. Yes, it is better than the bought treats.

2 years ago when we adopted our puppy we started her out with raw carrots as her treats for her first year. She still loves carrots and knows which drawer in the fridge I keep them in. Also we add vegetables in her dog food..

She loves broccoli, cauliflower and green beans, and peas, cooked or raw. A special treat when they are in season are bing cherries, of course I pit them for her, spoiled or what!

With no disrespect but in the best interest of your animals do not recommend any product unless you have consulted your Veterinarian because some of these so called treats can actually kill your animal.

My poodle has kidney trouble and she is on hills food for her disease, I would like to know if she can eat any veggies and if so which ones. She weighs 8 pounds.

Hi, I agree with using real foods for treats. My dogs love raw celery. I used to give them raw broccoli and cauliflower, but found out that cruciferous vegetables should be cooked slightly because, when eaten raw, they interfere with thyroid function.

This is true for people, too.
