Baking Soda as a Skin SoftenerThe best skin softener that I have found to date is baking soda. When used while bathing, baking soda leaves your skin soft and smooth looking. At about 40 cents a box, I don't think any professional exfoliator can come close to such a bargain! By Michelle H.

Strategies for Family Togetherness?I don't know about you guys, but it seems like families can get pretty scattered, even living under the same roof. In our house, everyone has their own TV and their own agendas and responsilbilities. What do you do to keep the family together? There just seems to be a real backwards notion that anything related to the family gets in the way of life, rather than the other way around. When I was young, it was quite a bit different. Frugal Windshield Repair?I got pulled over recently and was warned by the officer that I needed to replace my windshield. It has a pretty substantial crack in it. So I go down to the windshield repair shop and they want 600 dollars to do it... the car might be worth twice that. Anyone have any advice for getting this done for cheaper? Thank you, Val

Cleaning an Old Kilim?I have an old kilim that I bought at the flea market. I wonder how to clean it. I'm afraid of the colors running or that it may shrink. Any ideas?

Crib Pad Melted in Dryer on Clothes?Hi, I am desperate! A babies crib pad melted in my dryer and the "plastic" stuff is all over everything. I've tried quite a few things to get it off. WD-40, Fantastic, Goo Gone and even paint thinner. All brand new baby clothes... I've been working on and off for two days trying to find something that would work. I've rewashed everything twice now (didn't put anything back into the dryer!) and it's not budging. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!! Thanks! PS: Do you think a dry-cleaner would have something that would work? katparrott
