Use a Flannel Backed Tablecloth to Protect TableI don't like for the heat from the plates to create those hard-to-remove white spots on my table. To prevent this, I decided to use a flannel backed vinyl tablecloth underneath my regular polyester/cotton tablecloth.

Canning Jar lids with cross stitched patterns.

Cross Stitch Jar LidChoose cross stitch pattern smaller than the top of a canning ring. Stitch pattern onto Aida cloth. When finished, cut away extra cloth. Center design on orange juice lid.

Greeting Card Sewing Card

Sewing Cards for YoungstersHere's a great, inexpensive gift idea to keep youngsters entertained. Create cute sewing cards that are super easy to make. You can use the fronts of old greeting cards or glue calendar pictures to cardboard. Kids can sew lengths of ribbon or yarn through holes punched in the cards.

Christmas Shopping at the Dollar StoresShopping at Christmas has to be the most stressful time of the year for anyone on a budget, spending plan, or other. My tip is this which I borrow from Marlene Alexander in Canada in the Dollar Stretcher under Dollar Stores. Shop for gifts for all at the dollar stores.

Lacy heart decorations.

Lace HeartsCut lace about 14 inches, then fold over and sew a seam to slip a piece of 4 inch pipe cleaner in it. Make sure the lace is gathered. Then glue 2 red hearts in the center. I bought mine at a Dollar store.

finished snowman

Tootsie Pop SnowmanEasy to make Tootsie Pop Snowman. After making the Tootsie Pop Turkey this year, I kept trying to think of something similar to make at Christmas! This is one of the ideas I had. They would be cute as place cards at a meal or stuck on top of a present!

Lead Testing Kits?About 18-20 years ago when we had the first round of Lead scare, I saw a testing kit for sale. I know someone out there knows where to buy them now. Can you tell me where to get one? IS IT MADE IN CHINA? I will tell you what I saw in the 99 cent store that reminded me of the need for one. They had some nice coffee mugs and I was going to make some 'Hot cocoa gift mugs' UNTIL I saw a sticker on a couple of them that said 'Warning, not made for food'. There were dozens of them and only a few had the warning sticker on them.
