Cheesy PotatoesPeel and slice potatoes and put in 11x13 baking pan. I make sure the pan is full within 1/4 inch from top. In a medium skillet, melt butter and add 1 medium chopped onion. Saute onion until transparent. Add flour, salt, and pepper and stir until combined.

 

Italian Cake With Cream Cheese IcingCombine buttermilk and soda in small bowl; let stand for a few minutes. Beat egg whites until stiff in small bowl; set aside. Cream butter, shortening and sugar in large bowl until fluffy. Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

 

Sausage and SauerkrautBrown sausage slightly. Combine other ingredients, except cheese. Bake 2 hours or in crock pot 8 hours on low or 4 hours on high. The last 15 minutes add the cheese.

 

Chicken Cacciatore SoupHeat olive oil and butter in a large Dutch oven. Brown chicken breasts on both sides (does not have to be cooked thoroughly - it will finish cooking in the soup.) Remove chicken from pan and reserve.

 

Beets with RaisinsBoil raisins in the 1 cup water until soft and plump; drain. Empty beets into saucepan, add raisins. Dissolve cornstarch in 1/4 cup cold water. Stir into beets and raisins. Cook until clear and thickened. Add vinegar and butter.

 

5 Minute Butterscotch Chocolate Fudge Warm pot on oven. Mix first four ingredients together and stir until melted. Add currents and walnuts to mixture. Spoon mixture in greased pan, refrigerate for 30 minutes. Cut and serve.

 

Ground Beef SandwichesBrown ground beef and sausage. Crumble and drain well. Melt cheese and add oregano and garlic salt. Combine all. Put mixture on buttered rye bread. Brown in broiler and top with mozzarella cheese. May be frozen and browned when needed.

 

Homemade Egg NoodlesMix eggs and water with a fork. Add oil and baking powder. Add yellow food coloring to desired color. Stir in flour until stiff. Roll to desired thickness. Cut and dry on towel.
