Snow Cream

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of snow (make sure it's clean!)
  • 5 drops vanilla
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar

Directions:

Mix vanilla, heavy whipping cream, and sugar in one bowl. Scoop up 2 cups of snow in a different bowl and then slowly pour the mixture of sugar, vanilla, and whipping cream into the bowl of snow, while stirring. Taste.

You can add more sugar is you need, and if it's not creamy enough then add more vanilla. If there's too much heavy whipping cream the snow cream taste milky. Ta-Da! A nice, bowl of snow cream! (PS - it's not ice cream. It's a nice, creamy bowl of snow.)

Hi Judy, I'm from Fulton too, love this site. I use evaporated milk in my snow cream! Love it. The only reason I look forward to snow!

Hi there. We just use plain milk. Dad always ate it with peanut butter and crackers.

Snow Ice Cream

We don't use eggs because we don't want to have to cook the custard to keep down bacteria but we use canned evaporated milk and that makes it very rich. You most always have canned evaporated milk, sugar, and vanilla in the pantry. You can make snow cream when you're snowed in and the kids are driving you crazy. It's always been a special treat in our family and we look forward to big snowfalls so we can gather enough clean snow. (11/17/2005)

Ingredients

  • Sweetened condensed milk
  • Large bowl of fresh snow

Directions

When it begins to snow, run outside with a large bowl and place it in an area where you can catch clean snow. Bring the snow in the house and add the milk to it stirring as you pour. After it is all mixed up, you can eat it as is or you can add chocolate syrup, different flavors of soft drink, whatever you choose. Enjoy

Editor's Note: If you live in a climate where there isn't much snow or would like to make this treat in the summer months, you could use shaved ice instead of snow
