Pirate Theme Birthday Cake?

I want to know how to make a cake that is easy for a pirate theme birthday party. It would be great if you could send a picture with it also.

I think a very easy pirate cake would be to make a treasure map. It could be as simple or as complicated as you like but definitely have a compass, a path and an "X" marks the spot.

Another idea, from www.amazingmoms.com/.../party.pirate.htm

Pirate Party Cake
Make your own pirate cake with a regular 9x13 sheet cake.
Frost part of the cake blue for the sea. Sand is frosted light brown with toasted coconut on top. Stand "Play-Mobil" or Fisher- Price Pirate figures on top. Party supply stores will carry plastic palm trees and maybe a boat!

Take a circle cake pan or whatever cake pan size and use the design of a pirate hat and transfer to the cake. You could also use steering wheel look, man there are so many creations and ideas I hope something sparks the interest of your fantastic pirate cake!

Everyone had great ideas.

Have Fun and show us the pict what you created.

I'd bake the cake in a sheet pan, cut it in thirds, frost two together for the bottom of a treasure chest. Use the last piece for the top, leaving it slightly askew, and put toy beads and jewels poking out, and maybe scatter foil covered chocolate coins around it. Chocolate icing would make a great 'wood' color for the chest. You might even consider baking a foil wrapped coin in the cake, and whoever gets it could win a special prize--a pirates booty of sorts. Sounds like great fun. Good Luck!
