Cleaning Pencil Erasers

To "redeem" an old or dirty pencil tip eraser, use your hand-held pencil sharpener, place eraser tip into it, and twist away. Voila, a clean eraser again!

I always just "erase" white paper which has nothing written on it.

Best answer! My erasers were so dry -the pencil is c.1996!- that only the sharpening tip you provided worked.

I tried the "erase on new clean paper", "erase on old coarse paper", etc.

Nothing worked -the eraser felt like solid plastic smoothly skiming over whatever surface I used- until I used the sharpener on it. Very cool! Thanks!
