Treating a Mother Cat with Tapeworms?

I have a female feral cat that has tapeworms. I was told that I can't give anything since she is feeding 6 kitties, 4 weeks old. Is there anything I can do to get rid of the worms? Can the cat transmit the worms to the kitties?

Yuck! Worms! Lol. Unfortunately, even YOU and the people that pet this cat can pick up the worms unknowingly. Please consult a vet, as wormer is a poison and can seriously harm and even kill a cat that has a large population of worms. And yes, the babies probably already have worms.

There are several resources in most/all cities that will PROVIDE 100PERCENT FREE VET CARE FOR FERAL CATS TO THOSE THAT ARE FOSTERING THEM

Gosh I wish everyone would quit saying that to people when they tell you that they can't afford a vet and you continue to tell them that they need to go to the vet.

my cat has worms as well and I can't afford a vet just like the people asking for help on this site if any of us could afford a vet our first sentence wouldn't be I can't afford to take my pet to the vet and I'm sure none of us that have a cat that has worms would be on be on this stupid site asking how I can do it myself don't make us feel any worse than we already do we love our animals greatly that's why we're begging for help if we could afford a damn vet we would if we didn't care about our cats we would even be on here so please give us a break and if you don't have an answer don't bother putting up reply it's not to make people feel bad that have animals that love them we're just all in a bad way and we don't have the money so we're trying to do the next best thing and if you keep saying take the cat to the vet why don't you pay for us to take our cats to the vet if you're so concerned someone help us figure out a way to get the worms out of our cats. I might add I'm speaking for myself I can't speak for the other people I do not know them but if they love their animal like I do they're probably feeling bad as well

Call a vet ASAP! Not only are you risking mama's life but also the kittens if you don't take care of this right away! Tapeworms eat all the nutrients both mama and babies need to survive!

Ingesting both fleas and the intestines of mice or rats infected with tapeworms is what causes them so it would be prudent to check your pets periodically for them in the future.

Two words. Diatomaceous Earth (food-grade)

OK, four words.

This stuff will absolutely kill every (bad) worm in
your mama kitty and will "not" harm the little ones
either.

Food-grade diatomaceous earth is one thing that
every SPCA, cat or dog rescue should be telling
everyone about. Just make sure it is "food grade"
and not the stuff used in swimming pools.

Sprinkle it all over the mother kitty, and rub it
in very well. (The little kitties will even get some

of this as they nurse). Sprinkle the DE over mother
kitty's food (about a half-teaspoonful every day).

Take care that you don't allow the dust to be
inhaled too much. Be sure to rub and brush it
into mother kitty's fur really well.

This DE will also take care of any fleas.

It is available online if you have trouble finding
it in your local pet stores. It should be way more
available than it is IMHO. It isn't all that expensive
either which probably explains the unavailability.

The best of luck to you with this problem.
