Homemade Whipped Cream

I was making a sundae and ran out of whip topping, so here is a good recipe for making whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • Heavy Cream
  • 2 tsp. of Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 cup of sugar

Directions

Mix it all up together then refrigerate for 15 minutes (at least) then serve chilled.

In Australia we are able to buy whipped cream in a dispenser can, but since it costs about 5 times the price of pure cream, why not make your own? In fact, amongst my friends and acquaintances, I don't know anyone who actually buys the ready made variety.

For whipped cream, I take a 300ml bottle of thickened cream, add a spoon or two of vanilla, then a tablespoon of caster sugar (optional). Beat with an electric hand mixer until peaks hold their shape. (Do not overbeat). Quick, easy and much tastier than the manufactured stuff!

Oh my goodness! My whipped cream turned out weird. It was like liquid, but I poured it on my fruit sled. It was delicious.
The kids just love it.
