Check your local consignment shops and thrift shops like Goodwill. Lots of people donate them or sell them in a consignment shop and they are usually in good condition.

Definately try the thrift stores,,,Prom dresses are so darn expensive and to be able to get on for about 1/4 or less off would be great!! I have sent alot of the girls from Church to the proms without anyone even knowing where the gowns came from! If you are squeemish about it go to another town and shop and then take it right to the dry cleaner,,,who knows you may have to pay more for the cleaning than the dress!!!

If you are looking online try Velvet Pocket Vintage as she has a lot of formals, prom, etc and great prices. Sometimes you can get slightly flawed things for just a couple of dollars.

Watch the classifieds for people selling prom dresses. Check garage sale descriptions too. Some communities have prom dress swaps. Watch your paper for info. Or maybe you could start your own.

Go to www.bridesonlinestore.com. They have some beautiful dresses...........NEW....... they range in price from $67.00 to $87.00! Sizes range from 4 to 30! My sister-in-law ordered her bridesmaids dresses from there. She got them in less than a week after she ordered them!

They were beautiful! Every bit as pretty and well made as the pricey dresses in the bridal shops. Future brides need to check this out and be kind to their bridal attendants. It's not necessary to spend $150 to $300 on these kind of dresses!

there is a store called brand name clothing that has locations in certain states. If there is a location near you I would highly sugest going there. My friend found a $300 dress for $25. No lie!! go to http://www.nbcclothing.com!!! These dresses don't have anything wrong with them or just a little thing wrong which prevents them from going to the retail stores. On the site you can see there is one woman who found a dress for $4!!! And nothing was wrong

You should also look through the last few years prom photos. See if there was a dress that you really loved. Talk to the girl and ask to buy it. She's never going to wear it again and will likely sell it to you cheap. Girls at my school did this all the time. Then you can take it to a tailor/seamtress and have it fitted to you, or made sleeveless, plunging neckline, higher hem line etc. And it's a whole new dress. My best-friend did this for our prom and she bought the prom queen's dress from the year before for $25. She paid $20 for alterations and everyone loved the dress. We were both on prom court and no one even realized it was last year's prom queen's dress. Good luck and have fun. Be safe.
