My daughter will turn 13 in July and I am wanting to have her a dance for her birthday. I am looking for any ideas on how to decorate the hall. I am also looking for games they can play during the day so any ideas would be helpful.

colorful pinatas would be cute, and I've even been to a wedding where they had a pinata at the hall, and had the children break it open. kids at any age would enjoy that.

This is what i think.....see....I had this really fun party...what I did was it was survivor themed. I split us up into 2 groups, then there were different challenges. The person who won the most challenges at the end won a box of candy. It may sound corny...but it was really fun! sum of the challenges were finding certain items blindfolded, putting together a puzzle, having to eat disgusting foods such as octopuses and fish eggs, and much more. It was really fun. This is when i turned 13.....LaTeR

maybe you should try asking your daughter what she wants to do for it im a girl of 12 comeing up 13 and i would like a 13th birthday party and its alwayz best to ask your daughter because you never know what she wants she might disapointed with the way you do it so i would ask her first before you go ahead with it!!!

Well...I'll be turning 16 in June and Ill tell you what I did for my birthday party. Well, first everyone of my friends came to my house then we ate some food(pizza)! Then after that we all went downstairs to the basement and i have this disco type like ball.We were dancing all night not really.So yea that would be a great idea for her birthday I know that she would like it.And some of the games I played were really fun.....of course you have to play truth or dare!
okay, my mom planned my 12th birthday party as s surprise, and it was great! I loved it, however it was a little disappointing. I was planning another birthday party, and thought it might be this great chance to start going out with this guy, but then my mom and dad surprised me with a party that i wasn't dressed for AT ALL. It was pretty embarrassing with all my friends looking adorable, and then there was me wearing what I had worn to school that day, and my hair, not so wonderful.
I just held a dance party for my daughter on her 13th birthday. She was involved in the planning, but her dad, grandmothers, and I decorated the hall so when she walked in she WAS surprised. We had silver stars hanging from the ceiling and papered the walls with purple plastic tablecloths (you can buy it in 100 ft lengths...very inexpensive) and silver stars. We also had balloons everywhere (we rented a helium tank and made our own balloon bouquets...less expensive!). We also had a DJ who brought a fog machine, disco ball, strobe light, other fun light effects, and a bubble machine! (she picked out all the songs for the DJ songlist...my only rule was that all songs had to be 'clean' versions).
I'd say from a 13 yr old guys view... we have a costume dance in a week from today and the DJ spot got dumped on me for the 2nd time so i have some music... but i'd do like a self DJ like someone you know then you could have all her fav. songs and games she'd like to play... I tried a fun game last dance get all the guys to one side and all the girls to the other... then have your daughter be first and pick a boy... have a variety of slow songs then songs like twist and shout and the chiken dance so it's always changing go untill everyone is dancing

I'm just about to turn 13 in couple of months so I'm like so excited! I started planning mine in like last year just so everything will be great but I'm going to have like this neon dance party and my mom said it could be like 7 to whenever and I might have some of my girlfriends have a sleepover later but my said I could have a dj and most djs come with the disco lights and fog machines and stuff so its like a package and the invites I'm gonna type them up and tie them around lil neon light bracelets and give then out 2 everyone but there could be a lot of games and dancing well I hope that you guys come up with an awesome birthday party and I hope this advice is kind of helpful well. Planning a party can be really stressful or a total blast. You need to find out what your daughters 'into' like at the moment I love music and anything colouful. But if she won't let you find out you can't go wrong with balloons and streamers. If your daughter is really mature, do things in gold and white. Make it look really beautiful. If your not on a budget splash out with fog machines and disco lights. Lots of glitz and glam. Or you could ask her to help you plan it and if it's a surprise get her friends to help! Hope you find some really great ideas and she has a great day.

Well, I am turning thirteen on march 1st and am still trying to find good ideas. But if you were my mom Just dont do anything kiddish because it would be very embarassing and your 13th b-day party is very important. so as a decoration (if you want to do something simple) then just decorate with her favorite colors. Maybe put some candy on the side or some small snacks. But if you really want to go big find a theme to stick to and go from there. As for games something i really want to do is ddr (dance, dance, revolution.) Its fun for all ages. Also have some kind of contast/compatition. Like funniest laugh or have a fashion show.(as a teen fashion is very important.)

My daughter turned 13 in October but we decided to wait until July to have her party. In October she had a few friends overnight though. In July we had a luau. Our pool was open and we had popular and Hawaiian music playing. We also decorated with small palm trees and plastic pineapples. It was fun and perfect just because my daughter and I had reached an agreement money wise and on decorations. Just let your daughter pick what she wants within reason.
I am turning 13 in March and I thought I might be able to help you. You can see if a local fire station or large area(big enough for the amount of kids you in mind) is avaliable and if you can afford it. If you have a PS2, Dance Dance Revelution is a very fun and excercising game. Twister, Twister Moves could be fun. I think you should either decorate the hall with streamers or posterboards that have been decorated by your daughter and her friend that say catchey phrases.

I turned 13 in August and I had a HUGE party.
I invited my entire grade and there was an AMAZING turnout. Everyone in the whole grade except 5 people came. It was a lot of work, so my friend and I (her b-day was in October) decided to have to party together and split the cost of it. It ended up at about 200 dollars for each family. We rented out the pool from 8-11:30 PM and we just hung out. We swam played some fun games and just did some fun stuff. I was sick for my party, sick to the point where I didn't want to go and I couldn't get out of bed. But I toughed it out and we all had fun.

I would like to have a party at a hall with all my year but the thing is my parents will be there and I don't want them to because I want to ask this guy out (ANY IDEAS.) The other thing is I don't know what to do or play. I would like to play musical chairs because it will be like the past when I was little but I don't know what else to play. What do you think I should play and about my parents being there.
What I did was I invited the whole grade and had a Hawaiian themed. we rented this hall and hired a dj who bought fog machine, bubble machine, disco ball u name it. it was awesome. we played limbo pineapple bowling (with pineapples and coconuts) hot coconut, sounds cornybut totally awesome ur daughter would love something like that also parents get lost cause if ur daughters wants to have a cute guy then she probably won't want u. also play seven minutes in heaven and hire a pool. have that till like 11pm. then get everyone to sleep in the hall. then take the entire grade to like maccas for breakfast and hire a limo. my parents gave me a budget of $1,500. make this night special for ur daughter she she only turns into a teenager once.
I am just reading these answers and I am really surprised that 13th birthday is so important in USA. At least, it looks like it's more important. Here in Czech Republic it's not like that and I didn't know that in USA it is.
It must be very nice to have such a big party that I read about here. Now I am little sad that I didn't have any of my birthday parties so big with all these things. Maybe because it's just not America here. I am just going to have my 18th birthday party tomorrow, so I hope it will be great, but it won't be as big as some you write here about. It would be too expensive with DJ and other things like that. I think that most important are friends who are with you at the party. I just wanted to write comments from another point of view, because I was surprised.
to Tom in the Czech Republic: It's not like that for most Americans either! You're reading about a few who are able to make a big deal of a birthday. My children had a cake and the meal of their choice at home and could invite a FEW friends over for awhile or sometimes for the night. My grand daughters usually have a cookout with friends and usually their parents so it sort of turns into a block party. No DJ's, no theme,no pinatas,no disco dance parties, just hot dogs, chips, cokes, and cake. Birthdays are not always a huge deal here in America.
Thank you very much for your answer. It's good to know it from the other side. The way of birthday party you write about is surely more usual in here too. So I think that there are not many differences. Maybe just that 13th birthday is more important for America's children.
