International Night Dinner Party?

We are planning a dinner party for 10 adults. Our theme is International Night. Each couple will bring an ethnic main dish to share. I'm looking for a game or anything to get people talking that is somehow related to the theme. Not all the guests know each other. Thanks.

You might make a variety of paper hats based on internet images of hats from different parts of the world. Label the hats with country of origin, and ask your guests to pick their hats.

Since you are having the guest bring an ethnic main dish to share, how about have them also make up a game to go along with that area as well. Have Fun!

I once went to a party with a similar scheme. At the front door the hostess had a fishbowl with folded papers in it. Each paper had the name of a country or the name of an international capital.

The guest picked a piece of paper and then was asked to mix until they found the country or capital that went with what they had.

Go to this site.

www.scu.edu/.../Resources-Icebreakers.pdf
It is on Ice Breakers. What I am suggesting is HUMAN BINGO. An explanation will be there (just scroll down to it) and later a grid you can fill in to fit your group. This is a fun and informative game.

We had a similar dinner and requested the dishes made be sized for one serving for each guest, and
be accompanied by recipes for their dish equal to twice the number of guests - AND -anything about their origins, ingredients, purposes, traditions, and encouraged each guest to both take two recipes of each, one to keep/ one to share with a neighbor, for each dish; giving them each a pencil to write a thank you comment on the backside of each recipe, and how they enjoyed the dish and what each one did/said about their nation/culture, as each one finished their turn, folding and placing them in a. stack where the recipes were that they were given.

Ask each guest also to try to dress in the colors of their nation/country, and to be prepared to offer any traditional dance, song, or story loved in their country.

We loved it, and hopefully will do other things as fun.

God bless you. : )
