Bad Tempered Seal Point Siamese?

I have a Seal Point, and you can't even hardly pet her, she hisses and smacks at you! She hasn't been declawed so therefore she will cut you bad. How can I make her a loving cat?

If your cat hasn't been socialized, or has been mistreated, she may never be as friendly as you'd like.

Food bribes could work to help her realize you don't want to hurt her. Try offering her little bits of tuna fish. Start off by putting a few flakes near her and then giving her space to eat them. Gradually, you'll be able to be closer and closer to her without upsetting her. Eventually, she might eat out of your hand. When she's ready for you to be more loving with her, she'll let you know.

I think the best way to make your cat into a loving pet is to show her love, by letting her take her time to relax around you.

I really hope this helps. Good luck!

I finally won over some feral kittens when I would rub their ears when I sat by my computer. They would eventually jump up on my lap. They still run if I grab at them suddenly. They are about 4 years old now. One is starting to sleep with me, she is, in fact, obsessed with sleeping next to me, though she still runs if I make a fast move. I agree with letting your cat quietly settle by you when she discovers how much fun it is to be loved.

There are a lot of reasons for her behaviour - please don't have her declawed as it is a barbaric and painful experience for the cat. Has she been desexed - have you had the vet check her for health problems? Probably patience is the best thing for her - You don't say if you have had her from kittenhood or just got her - she might need time to readjust.

Also if she might like some catmint or cat grass if she is an inside cat - In Australia there is a product called Feliway that apparently calms cats down - you might need to talk to your vet about it other than that just lots of patience
Hope you and your furbaby will eventually get along -

I absolutely agree with Sharylesley.. don't have her declawed. It's cruel, and is actually illegal and a criminal offence here in Australia to declaw cats.
Let her come to you in her own good time. maybe she won't. Some cats never become cuddly, purring bundles. Treat her kindly, but don't try and pick her up and pet her when she obviously doesn't want that just now. If she will allow a gentle stroke in passing, keep on with that, hopefully she will become more loving in time.

Patience...patience...patience! Shower her with lots of sweet talk and be consistantly kind. Tell her how much you would like to at least be her friend, you'd be surprised at the results..."and the greatest of these is love!" I had a nasty male cat who eventually came around.

Keep the faith and don't declaw or give up. Please!

I've adopted a Seal Point Himalayan cat last year, and in one year the improvements have been amazing! She was already de-clawed and spayed. She also wouldn't let us pet her and forget about combing/grooming her. Here is what I did. If you've only had her a few days/weeks, I'd say let her be so that she sees you are not hurting her and she is getting plenty of food.

After a few weeks if she's calm, you might start telling her a firm NO when she bites or smacks at you and then walk away from her, and don't pay any attention to her. Cats are like kids, they want attention bad! A few minutes later come back to her and talk smoothly to her.

This is something that needs to be done many times everyday.

If she hisses, she is definitely scared of you, let her be. Also provide a place for her to hide. Cats need that. Once it's been a few weeks, don't let her hide all day.

You also want to have positive interaction with her, give her treats by talking softly to her and just handing her the treats next to her so she can get it by herself. You can start bring her to you that way, closer and closer, as much as she will allowed. Don't try to touch her just now.

As far as the de-clawing issue goes, I've tried having cats that kept their claws but they would tear my furniture bad, and I never manage to teach them to not do that. The only cat I ever could keep that way was a female stray that went outside, since I don't let my cat go out anymore, I just have their front paws de-clawed.

Don't let her attitude get to you, deep inside she just wants to be loved, secured, happy.

Don't bother her when she is sleeping, cats needs tons of sleep.

Be patient, love her unconditionally, she'll come around I promise.

My baby now lets me pet her as much as I want and I can even run a comb through her very long hair. Okay, so she still bites once in a while, but I'm not giving up. Poor baby wasn't shown much, she doesn't know anything.

Hope this is enough to get you started when you're further along don't hesitate to write to me, I'll try to help as much as possible.

I have a very sweet and lovable cat- until our dog goes near him. I found a product called Good Cat- you add a tiny bit to your naughty kittys drinking water and they start behaving themselves- this is not a drug it is a concentrated flower essence, for cats with behavior problems like-being finicky, unfriendly, or territorial.
it is perfectly safe for your other cats or dogs to drink it too, there are no harmful side effects, it has saved our house from total chaos! I found my bottle at Petco for $10- SO worth it!
Good Luck!
