When I dry sheets and towels in the dryer they get all wrapped up in a sort of cigar shape. The things on the inside don't get dried, and I have to unravel everything and throw it back in. After another 20-30 minutes they get all rolled up again. Anyone know of a way to stop this? The dryer is one the most expensive appliances to run!

I just thought of this, but never tried it myself. Experiment by taking your sheets and pin the ends together with a safety pin on both corners, making them smaller in length. Now do the same with the towels. What you're actually doing is reducing the volume of the sheets and towels, then they won't get tangled in the dryer.
Another hint in cutting down the drying time which in turn will save you some money is to put one or two clean dry towels in with the wet load.

Sometimes it helps to fold the sheets and towels in fourths so that when they are tumbling around they are unfolding instead of rolling themselves up into knots.
try shaking out the towels before you put them in the dryer, sometimes mine get that way in the washer
I had that problem. I've started drying my towels separate from my sheets. No more tangles.
Since you already know this will probably happen, set the dryer for about half the time, open it, rearrange the clothes, then set for the remaining time.
I use dryer balls from Bed Bath Beyond or anyplace else. Static eliminators are actually cheaper to send to US from CAN. The balls bounce around and separate things. The static eliminators are used instead of dryer sheets. Also instead of just dumping stuff from the washer to the dryer, kind of put it in by "airing" it out first. The sheets and balls save $$ and last for years, the balls cut my drying time by 20 minutes for sheets/towels. I only use low heat.
I never dry my towels with anything else.If you dry your sheets & towels together you'll get those little pills all over you sheets.
I throw a couple of tennis balls in the dryer, when I dry my comforters. This would probably work with your towels.
I've read all the tips above, and I find that the only one that really works the best is the tennis balls. I bought a sleeve of 3 tennis balls just for this purpose. They went into the dryer the day I bought them, and they've been in there ever since (almost 3 yrs.
I too am a fan of tennis balls. When drying do your towels first to prevent pilling on your sheets, then do your sheets separately. Tennis balls also keep your towels soft and fluffy. I use three or four balls. I know this will work. Good luck.

Do try folding the towels and sheets in half or quarters before tossing in the dryer.

Tie the sheet or linen into loose knots. It works for me. Make sure the last knot that ties the ends together is tight and will not undo while drying.
