A Remedy for Salty Soup

If your soup is salty, you can steam some veggies like grated potatoes, carrots, celery or use evaporated milk.

The easiest way for anything too salty is to add 1 or 2 raw potatoes to the pot, and remember to REMOVE that potato which will now be too salty. Can add more than one potato if a real problem So fast and easy.

I've had a couple of casseroles that were too salty, and I found the best way to remedy the problem was to add more of the ingredients; like tomatoes, or potatoes, etc. You can easily double the ingredients, and refrigerate half or freeze some of them (like chili.)

If your soup is too salty, quarter a raw potato and add it for a half hour or so. It will absorb a lot of the salt. Remove before serving. Use it in another recipe.

Judi, do you cook this raw potato or do you leave it raw in the soup overnight?
Thanks,

A Remedy For Salty Soup

Made beef stroganoff and after adding a little garlic salt to the meat, the canned broth and soup made it way too salty. Tried the white vinegar and a little sugar and it really helped! (07/23/2009)
