Faux Stone Siding Using Plastic Containers?

Has anyone used plastic lids or empty lean cuisine containers for faux block or stone siding?

I'm thinking that's a neat idea. Big Box stores sell a fast drying cement mix. That's easy to use. It can be colored with paint to look like real stones. Don't smooth the top to much then you'll have 2 sides to choose from. And that will give you a little bit of difference so each piece is not a carbon copy. Now! I have to try this thank you! :)
