Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 2 Tbsps. chopped green pepper
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup chili sauce
  • Advertisement

  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. cider vinegar
  • 2 tsps. ground mustard
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 6 hamburger buns, split

Directions

In a large skillet, cook the beef, celery, onion and green pepper over medium heat until meat is no longer pink and vegetables are tender; drain. Stir in the ketchup, chili sauce, sugars, vinegar, mustard, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes. serve on buns. Yield: 6 servings

Tip: Try the sloppy joes filling on baked potatoes or over pasta for a change of pace.

This is a delicious recipe. I made it for a group of 6 gals, and three wanted the recipe. I did leave out the brown mustard though as I was out of it. Doesn't need the mustard.
