Making Punched Aluminum Ornaments

December 22, 2005
Aluminum Ornament

If you like the look of punched tin ornaments, but think they're too much work, try punched aluminum.

Directions:

  1. Cut the bottom out of a small aluminum pan (like a pot pie pan).
  2. Tape an image that you like to the aluminum circle and tape the circle to a piece of Styrofoam.
  3. Poke holes following the image with an icepick or barbecue skewer.

  5. When you're done, poke a larger hole at the top for hanging and peel the paper off.
  6. You're left with a pretty punched aluminum ornament!

This is so nice. I saved all the lids from cat food that came in aluminum cans back when I had a cat. Now, I know what to do with them. But I wont limit myself to just Christmas designs. This is one very versatile application.

Thanks!
