Carefully scrape it off then spray the wood with straight from the bottle white distilled vinegar. The vinegar will kill off any remaining molds, mildew, or mosses.

Once this is done, be sure to clean the wood more often and make sure to tip the bench so that all areas are exposed to the sun for a while. That will help dry the wood. Once that's done, I'd probably oil it with lemon oil or a rub on wood oil of some kind to protect the wood and seal it.
