Why does the can of paint smell like rotten fish?

Paint can sour and apparently it did. It's possible a dead bug or mouse or something fell in while you were painting or something??
If this is a new paint can ,return it to where you bought it and see what they say. If it is old paint you can try to mask the smell with Vanilla Extract added to the paint.
