What Natural Remedy Can I Use for Dry Skin on My Face?

I have dry skin patches on one cheek. The rest of my face is either oily (Tzone), or normal. I wash my face with Clean and Clear acne wash, and about 1-2x a week, I use a gentle exfoliating wash.

I'm looking for a natural remedy. I don't live in the states now and I don't have access to most of the beauty products I used to.
Thanks.

The acne wash might be too drying, especially if you have combination skin. You could try switching to a mild soap and using witch hazel on the oily areas. Chamomile tea also makes a gentle astringent toner; just brew a cup as you normally would and keep it in a jar or bottle in the fridge. Tea tree or lavender oil are good to dab on spots if you have them.

Aloe vera gel would help with the dry patches as it's moisturizing and anti-inflammatory. Until your skin heals I would probably skip the exfoliating, too.

Try using a daily moisturizer. I have the same problem, plus I have eczema. Also clean and clear might be too harsh on your skin, try Oil of Olay cleanser. Try to remember to put the moisturizer on, as soon as you wake up and right after bath or showers. I use the target generic brand of the daily moisturizer. It works wonders. My skin no longer has those dry patches and it doesn't feel tight after i use it.

I agree, the Clean & Clear is probably too drying. Why don't you use a mild face wash & just treat your oily/acne-prone areas as needed?

If you don't live in the US & can't get most beauty products-for the dry spots try putting petroleum jelly(vasseline) or shortening on them. Yes, I mean the shortening you cook with!

My son had severe excema & dry skin when he was little & going through chemo, his dermatologist told me to rub shortening into his skin like moisturizer after his bath when his skin was damp (he said a lot of models use it). That was 13 years ago & we all still use it when we have a problem with dry skin & it really works.

I use an equal amount of sugar and olive oil! It's super cheap and works good!

Olive oil, Crisco,Vaseline and mineral oil are all good for dry skin. Just a very small amount worked into the dry area will help. Best Wishes to you. GG Vi

I've recently started using the Oil Cleansing Method, and it seems to be working. My skin has had oily areas, but my forehead has always been dry and flaky. Since I've started using the OCM, that hasn't been an issue.

The oily areas are not oily, and the flaky areas are not flaky. Cleaning your face with oil does sound odd, but it really works. Exfoliators never seemed to do much good.

I would try mineral oil. I noticed in the drugstore when checking an advertised dry skin oil that the main ingredient is mineral oil. Also, Avon Skin So Soft oil is primarily mineral oil. You should be able to get this at a drug store. Hope it will help you. m
