Gizmo (Domestic Shorthair)

Gizmo is 7 years old. She is a domestic short hair. I found my wonderful Gizmo on August 31, 2001 when my mare gave birth to one of my fillies. Gizmo was standing underneath my mare between her legs trying to stay dry in the rain that day. Gizmo was about 3-4 weeks old and nothing except bone. She could fit in my hand. I took her home, fed her fresh fish and milk and she is now a fantastic loving farm cat at the whopping weight of 8lbs. She is tiny, but FULL of life.

She loves to follow my husband around the farm. When he feeds the horses, she is there. It is so funny to watch her run after him and follow him. She has always loved him, unlike my X...that she use to pp on his clothes. :) When we are picking the garden, she is there, sometimes she even crawls up on my back, curls up and snoozes.

She is a wonderful little angel that God sent down to me. She thinks that she is the Queen kitty of the farm. I guess she really is. Everyone loves her dearly.

What a cute little girl!

I had to giggle over the pee pee on your x's clothing cause I was dating a guy for a short while who I had a weird feeling about. Well, my cat pee pee'd on his shoes and that told me all I needed to know to reinforce my worries and I didn't date him thereafter ;-) LOL!

What a wonderful story!! I always say animals come into our life when we need them and of course when they need us. So glad the ex is gone and the Queen has a mommy and daddy that love her. Kisses and hugs to Queenie!!!!

Your not going to believe this, but we found a kitten down back in the weeds. He was all black. We think he was about 3-4 weeks old. However he looked well taken care of. We have a wild female cat that has kittens from time to time. We think she split up the litter due to the risk of wild animals. If some were harmed she would have the others to fall back on.

Any way I found him the day of the big storm. Before the storm hit is when I first set eyes on him. But what was strange is the mom had him hiding in the tall grass. Not inside a building or under the trailer. Later that night we got a bad storm. We were woke up with the sound of cracking tree branches and heavy rain.

My husband and I went out looking around, there were black clouds moving but we could still see some from the moon light. We heard the kitten so we went and I fed him on the chance the mom would not after I found him the first time. We ended up hand feeding him (I still am). He is not old enough to eat on his own yet. Would you believe I called him Gizmo!

The cat we think is the mom still comes up on the porch to eat, we have tried to make friends with her to no avail. She is wild! But I have put the kitten out on the porch from time to time. And she comes up to it as long as she feels we are far enough away that we can't touch her.

I think she understands what is going on. Some of the cats prefer to stay wild and will not tame, while others will let us touch them. The out door ones get fed right along with the indoor cats, slipping a little worm meds in some milk from time to time. Or if sickness occurs an antibiotic in there food. It seams all is well.

We also had a small black kitten literally jump into my car! She fell asleep in my lap so I took her home. Her tail was just a stub, so after two weeks, the name "Stubz" just stuck.

She, too, follows my husband like a dog, and talks to us CONSTANTLY. She sleeps with us, plays fetch, and is an all around delight. We have three cats, each with their own personalities, but I had to share our "little black kitty" story!

Gizmo is a beautiful cat AND if she likes your husband - you can trust her to know what is best!

That reminds me that for years I had been "pestering" my husband about having a cat and though he never said he doesn't like cats, he always had excuses WHY we shouldn't right now. Today we have - (I had written about our dear Clara passing away). 12 cats we are honored to live with (all shelter cats or strays) plus the strays who just come for meals and pats. My husband is their most devoted loving and caring slave.
