Use Cast Iron Whenever Possible

Whenever possible, use cast iron cookware. The iron from the pan really does "leech out" into the foods you cook, adding iron to your diet. This is especially if the foods you cook in the cast iron pan are acidic (i.e. tomatoes, etc.)

Unless you're a POST-menopausal woman, then we don't need or want the extra iron because of concerns about heart disease.

I love my cast iron too. I have a big set that I inherited when my brother passed away. Things taste great when cooked in cast iron.

I remember reading that there was little anemia years ago because everyone used cast iron to cook all their meals in. I immediately went out and bought some, started using it, and absolutely love mine.

Maybe progress hasn't been all good.

I have used cast iron pans, all of my life, & there is nothing like them. I have tried some of the high priced pans out there on the market today, but I always go back to my cast iron pans. I do not like the idea of eating Teflon, & I don't care how well you take care of the stuff, it always chips off, & you end up eating it, without even knowing it! I'll take the iron any day!
