Acne Remedy?

I'm 23 year old male. My problem is I have had some kind of infection on my scalp for 4 years. I have continuously occurring acne like pimples all over my scalp. When I use anti-dandruff shampoos containing zinc pyothine, these remain under control, but nothing has cured them. These pimples release same material as that of acne. I also have acne all over my face. I have tried many oral antibiotics like erythromycin and tetracycline, but no cure. Please help me.

My husband had the same problem, then I finally convinced him to go to a dermatologist. Not all acne and dandruff are the same so they can't necessarily be treated together. In the meantime, try old fashion lye soap for both the hair and face. If the dandruff problem is due to extra oily glands clogging the pores and leading to an infection, try this old trick: soak scalp in Listerine for 5-10 mins then use a stiff boars hair brush to massage the Listerine and loosen any stubborn buildup. Shampoo as usual and add an apple cider vinegar rinse. Try not to use a blow dryer as the warm air will just draw the oils back to the surface.

Absolutely see a dermatologist. You have had this for years, home remedies aren't working. A specialist can figure out what this and treat it. They may need to take a sample of the discharge or do a biopsy, but don't mess around with it yourself.

I once asked a beautiful Asian lady about her skin and she told me that she smears an egg white over her face once a day. I tried it and it definitely tightens up the skin and removes all the dirt. Also have you tried Tea Tree Shampoo? One important thing also is not to squeeze any of the pimples because once broken they do spread. You may not realize that it gets under your nails and can be spread when you touch another part of your face.

I agree with the other posts about you needing to be tested so you can get to the root of your problem. You can't fix the problem if you don't know what the problem is.

Good Luck and don't give up, somewhere you will find your answer.

Hi there!

I would seriously look into the possibility of a parasite problem. Check out humaworm.com and I would also look into the use of ivermectin. I believe that there are very small worms (possibly a type of threadworm) that cause this. I don't know if you have the access to anthelmintics or herbs such as wormwood or blackwalnut, but it would be worth it find out. Also, anything like dandelion root capsules that help cleanse your system and detox your liver would undoubtedly be helpful. If the problem is coming from within your body, then treating it only on the surface just won't do the trick!

Best wishes and blessings

I have a friend with this problem. She cured it by rubbing milk of magnesia onto her scalp after washing her hair. She leaves the milk of magnesia on for two minutes and then rinses it out and dries her hair. After 3 or 4 days the acne was gone and did not return.

I f you have had this for years, and it is as bad as you say, please go to a dermatologist or at least your regular doctor. Home remedies are not going to solve the problem. There are many effective treatments, but cider vinegar and egg white are not among them.

Chemicals contained in shampoos, conditioners, etc can cause all kinds of problems, including "acne" or breaking out but it's a reaction to the chemicals in the products. My grandson had problems like this due to chemicals in products.
JR Liggitts' makes shampoo bars which have been used for centuries, with no chemicals at all to harm you. www.jrliggitts.com I believe the site is, if not, google shampoo bars to find them.

What I did was then go to my health food store, who had never heard of them, but readily ordered some in. You will probably not like the way your hair feels the first time or so you use this. I didn't. It is because your hair is not being stripped of its own natural oils, which we are used to, due to always using liquid shampoos containing chemicals.
The only "chemical" is lye, which is a bonding substance used in all soaps; lye used to be made from wood ashes. And on your face, use glycerin or a natural soap which does not contain chemicals. I am very fortunate in that in a nearby neighboring town, they have a soap factory Sappo soaps and I can pick up soap ends for very little. These are all vegetable based soaps.

You can also easily make both yourself. Recipes are abound on the net. Shampoo bars, however, are a completely different make up than body soaps are! Good luck!

My Uncle developed the same thing and tried everything to get cured. He is very clean but he does wear a do-rag often. He had to go to a Dr. It was a staph infection, or a yeast infection, I cant remember which one. But with an antibiotic , it cleared right up.

I use Paula Begoun products. I have had stubborn acne all of my life and once I started using her products, it greatly improved. If you have severe cystic acne though, you may want to ask your doctor about Accutane. It is the closest thing to a cure that is out there. You have to go on birth control pills if you do go on these products because they cause birth defects if you are pregnant while taking them. If your acne is not this severe, try Paula's products. You can shop by skin concern, all of her products are safe, irritant free, and reasonably prices not to mention they work. She also has books out called "don't go to the cosmetics counter without me" and the several editions of her "Beauty Bible."

It is all about using a mild but cleansing soap, a good toner, an exfoliating product (AHA or BHA), an acne product that can treat the acne. She has all of this and it is all great. My mom, sister, and I have used it for years.

My daughter took my granddaughter to a doctor for severe acne, he gave her a prescription for $125.00. Instead she went to her druggist and asked what she could use. He told her to use Witch Hazel on cotton balls. Her acne cleared up 80%. Witch hazel costs $2.14 at Walmart. I have oily skin, I've been using it, it is really good. Anyone with this problem should give it a try.

I have, for ages, been using generic, alcohol-free, unscented baby wipes with Witch Hazel.
I open the plastic container (only bought that once; now I just buy the refill packs) of baby wipes, and dump in a one-pint bottle of Witch Hazel.

Most of the time, the number of baby wipes (usually 160) is just right to absorb all of the Witch Hazel.
(On the rare occasion, I have had to add a splash more Witch Hazel as I come to the bottom of the stack of wipes.)
I also have a travel pack that I use for some of the treated wipes when I'm on the go. (01/30/2005)

I also use those baby wipes. Also, to help clear up acne take an aspirin, crush it, add a few drops of water to make a thick paste. Dab that on the pimple. It's the main ingredient in a lot of acne medications. It's Salicylic acid. (02/12/2005)

I have entered this advice before, but I found out firsthand that acne is serious and extremely embarrassing to a teenager. My son at 16 went to the doctor for actually another problem and being the sweet, young Dr. she was, she offered me advice on his acne. She advised using Neutrogena soap not just for the face, but the entire extremities. This product contains Benzol Peroxide and that's the ingredient that is so helpful.

He used nothing, but that through his first year of college, and he's now 24 with no signs of acne. Another thing she advised is to never let shampoo water run down your face. Lean backwards when rinsing. Try this I guarantee it works. (04/11/2005)

Try adding 15-20 drops of Tea Tree oil to your new bottle of Witch Hazel. Remember to label the bottle with a permanent marker and shake well before using. My teenagers and I have been using this for years. It makes a great toner and leaves a nice tingle. (if the tingle is too much, reduce the amount of Tea Tree oil you add) They also will spot new acne eruptions with the straight oil. Works fantastically. (08/30/2005)

Use Witch Hazel as an astringent, then follow with 8% or 10% Glycolic acid. Works excellently. (12/23/2007)

Make sure the Witch Hazel you buy doesn't contain Isopropyl alcohol this will only irritate the skin more. Your skin needs hydration. If you remove it completely your oil glands will work over time to try and re-hydrate your skin, this is will only perpetuate your acne problem. Hope this helps. (04/03/2008)

Acne Remedy

Your body gets rid of toxins through your liver, lungs, and your kidneys. Anything it can't get out through those, it sweats out through your skin. Acne is always a symptom of an internal problem.

The best thing to do is get tested on those 3 organs. Also, get a blood test to see if you are deficient in any vitamins, etc. Products don't work well, because they are just battling acne to calm it down once its on the surface, but the problem is always internal, so fix your body from the inside.

My suggestion is to go to a holistic doctor for remedies. Get bloods tests and find out the issue.
As a med student I have done my research into this. Fix your body from the inside. Retail products contain alcohol which makes your skin dried out and worse, "Proactive" is the worst, these are just money making marketing ideas, not solutions. Use a medical line like SWISSLINE by Derma Lab or use a spa line like GUINOT, but Swissline works better. Then heal your body.
