Homemade Stain Remover

Make a spray for the stubborn stains that your kids or your better half like to leave on their clothes.

Supplies Needed:

  • 1 empty spray bottle
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. washing soda
  • 1 Tbsp. Oxy Clean (I use the store kind)
  • Water to fill almost to the top

Directions:

Mix in bottle. Wait a while before you put the top on because it will expand a lot then before you use it.

Shake well first and then spray on your stains.

My husband got grease all over his shirt and pants, so I sprayed his shirt and let it set about half a day or until the next load of laundry is done, and pop it right in the washer with everything else. When you spray it make sure you do it really good.

Is there a way to make your own Spray and Wash spot and stain remover?

Try mixing 1 part all fabric bleach like Clorox 2 to 3 parts water in empty spray bottle. I read somewhere, maybe on this site, that it works great. Good Luck. (07/21/2010)

I just bookmarked it, it was 1 part color-safe bleach to 5 parts water in a spray bottle. (07/21/2010)

Remove stains from clothing, carpet, etc. Get an empty spray bottle, rinse, fill almost to top with peroxide, one squirt of liquid dish detergent, and shake. Spray this on clothing before putting into washer. Spray on dirty spots in carpet and walk away. If spots are really bad, you might have to repeat more than once. It has even worked on red wine stains on white blouse and paint stains in carpet. I have never had it to fade anything.

For a goo/ink/food stain remover, mix 1 part Goof Off with 1 part Citra-Solv and 3 parts water. Shake the solution thoroughly and then allow it time to emulsify. It is ready for use when the solution is uniformly a milky white color.
