Ledge When Replacing Cabinet Hinges

Bronze Post Medal for All Time! 169 Posts

We have just completed an extensive remodel on our condo. We want to make it old people friendly while we can still walk around. DH (aka Joe) is changing out the hinges on the kitchen cupboards. The old ones have 30 years of paint and gunk on them. In order to hold the doors in place to attach the new door hinge to the cupboard, he clamped a piece of wood across the bottom of the cupboard to align the bottoms of the doors so that all will be level. It makes a perfect resting place so that he can have both hands free to operate the power driver.

Congratulations from a veteran professional carpenter. There are many hints to learn that can contribute to a better job. Sounds like your 'carpenter' is one who can think.
