Why Would My Dog Have Dry Peeling Skin on Her Nose?

My German Shepherd puppy has dry skin on her nose and it's peeling. I thought maybe she's dehydrated. She drinks a lot of water, so I was wondering if it could be something more serious. She's not acting funny or anything.

We have an appointment with the vet, but I'm just anxious to find out what it could be.
Anyone have any ideas?

I think your dog has what they call Collie's nose. It is red and peeling because it is sunburned. This is a frequent problem in long nosed dogs. Please ask your Veterinarian for any suggestion to treat her.

My Italian Greyhound has the same thing. I have been told its Hyperkeratosis. Its not painful. I put petroleum jelly or sometimes Neosporin on her nose to make it peel less.

I pick off the dry skin and she does not appreciate it, but it makes her look better. :)
