Is there anything I can do to keep snakes away from my house?

Mothballs under the house across all entrances will do it.
Snake Prevention Techniques: There are several snake prevention techniques. The easiest, and perhaps the best, is habitat modification. The snakes are on your property because something is attracting them to that area. The two most likely attractants are cover and forage. If your property has a lot of debris and thick plant life, it will attract snakes. Especially attractive are things snakes can hide under, such as plywood boards, gaps under concrete, etc. Eliminate the clutter, trim back the weeds, and fill in any gaps that snakes would like to use for shelter!
Moth balls do not work. You can also go to Google and type in controlling snakes or type in getting rid of snakes.
My mother in law swears by moth balls, but then as foxrun said, she also does all of the other things as well.
We use a product called Snake A Way, as we have several turkey hens, and it works to keep them out of the nests and the coops where we keep the baby poults.
Get some muskovi ducks! If you are where you can have them and like ducks.
There are crystals that you can buy at a farmers coop or a tractor supply store. Snakes will not cross where they are laid. Around here, there are several poisonous snakes, and people regularly use it to keep snakes out of their yards.
We have 4-8 ft rat snakes that I have seen climb the walls of my shed. A 2 ft. fence or solid barrier is NOT the answer.
