Bronze Post Medal for All Time! 181 Posts

For a fast "not grilled cheese" sandwich, toast bread and butter the outsides. Place sliced cheese between two slices of toast and microwave for 30 seconds to melt cheese.

Although grilled cheese sandwiches with butter on the outside are delicious, this alternative seems like a good way to save calories. As the saying goes, we can have our cake and eat it too. Thanks!

I've been doing something similar for years; I lightly microwave the cheese before putting it on the toast, to make sure it isn't too hot. I've had a pizza burn once, and it's no fun.

Otherwise, I prefer this method, because an actual grilled cheese can get pretty greasy with all that butter!
