Every year for my son's birthday we have used the same vinyl tablecloth. Each year with a different colored marker we ask his guests to write him a birthday message. It has proved to be a great tradition, a keepsake, an inexpensive decoration and a conversation piece all in one. Not bad for a dollar store purchase!

Why just use it for childrens birthdays. Why not babyshowers, bridalshowers. Any place where alot of people will be . Wedding receptions, house warmings, Anv. parties.. The number of places and parties are endless. Just use the proper markers.
I think I've seen this mentioned before...a little bit different twist. Use a sheet, or a plain cloth tablecloth, let guests sign it, then embroider the names.
Of course, considering the way some people sign things that could be difficult.
What a great idea! Wish I would have know this 2 years ago before my great grandson was turning one, now is next birthday he will be 3. To late for me to do this but I will pass this tip on cause I love it! Thumbs up from me :)

Use a plain white sheet for a child's birthday party tablecloth. Give each guest a permanent marker (SUPERVISE PLEASE lol) and have them write their names, draw a picture, or write a note to the birthday child. This makes a wonderful keepsake. (recommended for children 9 and up)
