Using Coyote Urine to Keep Cats Out of the Yard?

Some readers have recommended coyote urine to keep cats out of my yard. Won't coyote urine attract coyotes to my yard? I don't want them to eat the cats, just want the cats to stop pooping in my yard.

You can get lemons any time of the year. Cats hate lemons. If you can simply dry them or put them out in pie tins, perhaps somewhere where the birds can't get them, you might be able to keep them away. They sure do work with the houseplants!
Hope this helps.

Lemons, citrus, does not work. As a resident of AZ where citrus abounds, trust me, citrus does NOT work but it will make a wonderful garbage mess wherever you put it.

I don't particularly like cat and thats why ive never owned one. People shouldn't have animals if they cant take care of them. It shouldnt be my responsibility to clean up after someones pet decides to use my yard as a their personal litter box. I've spent countless hours and at least 100$ in the last month on stuff that doesn't work and here's the list...Critter ridder pellets and spray, lemmons, Oranges, Vinegar and Cayenne pepper scotch bonnet peppers ground up, mothballs and ammonia, as a last resort i'm going with the Coyote Urine.

You could plant some coleus canina, rue, lavender or pennyroyal. Also mothballs work if you want to go ghetto.

Those farms with coyotes and fox are cruel and outlawed in many states. The animals are used in canned hunts where some big jerk a#* hole has to prove what a big man he is and the animal is released into a closed in area to be torn apart, much like pit animals, or shot.

Please don't buy their pee. Don't care for the cats? Cayenne pepper sprinkled. Has to be reapplied after wet.

Try shaking Cyenne Pepper where the cats travel and pop. One thing about cats they are always licking their paws and the pepper gives them something to remember. My mom told me to use this because cats love to walk on the cars and when you use the pepper on it they don't come back. Good Luck.

Don't be silly it won't draw coyotes but it would work on keeping the cats away being a predator of such animals as a cat. The other suggestions that were written also all have proven too work as well with the suggestion of the coleus canina planting being the best for such a problem as you wouldn't have to keep applying it.

Not a silly question! Explain why it would not attract other coyote. Give us a good answer please. You seem to know it all, right???

half that amount. I expect this urine is made (collected from ) males and females so it will confuse the coyote....but cats won't know the difference and just stay away.

Muttmom. Thanks for this info. I was wondering where and how coyote urine was collected and appreciate your shout out against such a cruel practice. I'm not sure why some are so worried about cats pooping in their yards, but agree that a sprinkling of red pepper is far more friendly and socially acceptable than supporting an industry that corners coyotes for slaughter and then sells their urine. Thanks for speaking up against such a vile practice.

Im wondering the same thing! Theres about 10 Ferrell cats on my street. To the person that asked why people are so worried about cats pooping in their yard?? Lets see some of us have kids that play in the yard, my child for one is 3 when hes playing in the yard with water we shouldnt have to go around picking up cat poop when we dont even have animals for 2 hes allergic to cats and is now on allergy meds every day which Im sure the cats constantly in my yard dont help and just within the last 6 months has been to the hospital 4 times with allergic reactions which Im sure is from the cats.

Its become a daily chore keeping cats out of our yard and off of his toys and from pooping. Im ordering Wolf urine today and I hope it works. Im not against animals Ive gotten 3 of these Ferrell cats fixed so they wont reproduce, rescues are so packed they wont take anymore car sanctuaries are full and not taking any. More and more cats show up because people on the street feed them I wish people werent so neglectful and stop getting animals they dont intend on keeping

Im sick and tired of these cats. If coyote urine doesnt work Im trapping and relocating to a shelter.

Thats awesome if you trap and take to a shelter. My neighbor traps and dumps. Very cruel. But good luck finding a shelter to take them. People need to do more research about the problem how its starts what yo do . Yes sone things take time and Even your own money to remedy a problem.
